Et Al is pleased to present a two-person exhibition by Nina Cristante and Ian Dolton-Thornton, Per Person Per Day.
Ian Dolton-Thornton’s box sculptures enact the private sphere of self-composition inside of plastic storage bins, modified after online instructions for home composting. A range of materials are arranged within: miniature furniture, coffee cups, consumer electronics and clothing. In addition to uses, these objects are ideas at-hand, composing a world around the self. Even the life-sized components fit within the space that they are allotted.
Nina Cristante’s video is a total body workout that can be performed at home or outdoors with the need of only a mini band and a towel. The music has been produced by Nina for the workout.
Ian Dolton-Thornton lives and works in Oakland, California. His work has been recently exhibited at VI Dancer, SFMOMA's Open Space, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Important Projects, among other venues. He is the director of Publication Studio Oakland, an artists' books press that prints and binds its projects on-demand.
Nina Cristante's Zao Dha Diet (ZDD) and Fitness Povero (FP) are ongoing works and nutrition & health consultation systems. Selected solo and duo exhibitions this year include 'life sport’ at LIFE SPORT (Athens), ‘United’ at The Composing Rooms (Berlin), and ‘hot16’ with Dean Blunt, at YEARS (Copenhagen). Her work has also been shown at Cell Project Space (London), IX Berlin Biennale, and Maxxi Museum (Rome).
