Summoners

For Chris, Corey, and Myself,

When I started this Body of work I wanted to engage with materials and stories that made me laugh. Where even in the intensity of grief I could find a humorous moment, or something that made me smile. I needed to poke fun at the seriousness at which I approach making or at the subject matter I obsess over. In Summoners, I attempt to think with the ideas and processes around a variety of kinds of persona building, Be it LARPing, Fursonas, Drag, or even the most common LARP event, Halloween. I wanted to dive into a fantasy world of my own making with the intention of pulling out relics and objects that prove the weight and importance of those Fantasy spaces. The Images in this show serve as allusions to things I hold dear to my heart. Each of them filled with Historical Objects, insulated community languages, deviancy, and expressions of love towards my queer and trans family both chosen and blood.
